Palliative Care Physician | Public Health Researcher

About Me

I am a community physician who has been working in palliative care, with a strong and growing passion for data science in public health. While working across communities, urban settlements, and now in clinical palliative care, I kept encountering the same pattern repeatedly: people living with suffering across multiple domains. They often live with combinations of chronic illnesses, mental health struggles, disability, ageing, and social vulnerability. Yet, our health systems frequently treat these as separate problems, without providing the integrated attention and support they truly require.

This experience led me to explore how population level data can tell the stories that individual clinical encounters cannot. My work now focuses on using epidemiology, R-based analysis, and geospatial methods to understand access to care for people living with life-limiting illnesses. I have worked on mapping access to childhood cancer services across India, analysing hospice service distribution in the UK, and studying home-based palliative care needs in underserved communities.

Alongside this, my clinical role in palliative care constantly reminds me that behind every data point is a family navigating complexity and experiencing suffering across physical, emotional, social, and spiritual domains. I am particularly interested in how data science can help design better, more integrated care models for people living with life-limiting illness, where palliative care is not an afterthought but an essential component of health system planning.
